Jeff Chandler

Jeff has been a Ballroom Dance instructor, coach, professional competitor, and choreographer since 1979. He is best known in the Ballroom Dance world for the mastery of technique in his teaching and his unique choreographic style.

He began his training with Fred Astaire Dance Studios and after moving to San Francisco in 1981 continued teaching for Arthur Murray Dance Studios. In 1988 he became an independent instructor and worked for The San Francisco School of Ballroom Dancing. Jeff danced competitively in the Professional American Smooth division for 20 years and was coached by every major national and world champion during that period.

Jeff  was an original founding partner of the Metronome Ballroom in San Francisco in 1991. The Metronome was one of the largest Ballroom Dance facilities in the country. There, he taught and trained not only students but some of the top professional teachers in the Bay Area.

Jeff produced, directed, and performed in a series of 30's style nightclub events called the Top Hat Club. Jeff drew from the talents of his professional colleagues and together they performed live floor shows in a nightclub atmosphere. Recently, he revived the Top Hat Club and intends to continue producing these events.

In 2009 Jeff bacame the co-organizer of the California Dreaming Dancesport Festival. The event is one of the largest same-sex ballroom competitions in North America.

He currently teaches private lessons and group classes at the Allegro Ballroom in Emeryville, Ca, Cheryl Burke Dance in San Francisco, CA, and Just Dance Ballroom in Oakland, CA.
